Showdown Week 1: The Mighty Pen

original post

My choice: Print books

The only reason that I prefer print books over ebooks is that I'm less likely to get distracted while reading a print book. I use ebooks a lot recently, when I can't find a book at the library, and it's hard to concentrate since there is so much else to do when I'm on my laptop. A lot of the time I end up procrastinating on the reading. It's gotten so bad that sometimes when I'm reading a print book I get impatient and glance to the bottom corner of the page to check the time.

However! One isn't inherently better than the other when it comes to reading. I could just as easily have picked ebooks since they're more easily available and portable than print books. (Technology is awesome! And not causing the collapse of society as we know it! We can enjoy used book sales and online books simultaneously!) Both are great, and as long as I have a book to read SOMEWHERE, I'm happy.

My choice: WHO CARES AS LONG AS PEOPLE READ

I feel like less people are reading at all, and even people who like to read can't find time to do it anymore (talking about myself hahaha). So why argue over how books are read? Instead of debating whether paper books are better than kindles (or whatever other e-readers there are, honestly I'm really bad with Technology), we should focus our attention on getting others to read. "United we stand, divided we fall." I don't know who that quote is from but it fits.

So basically everyone read. :)) )
